Knox and Clayton did a superb job for us at our home in Brighton. The attention to detail throughout the project, dealing with every aspect of the build, including Planning, Building Control, Builders, structural Engineers, right through to the kitchen installation itself was exemplary. We are absolutely delighted with the outcome.
Our Client approached us to improve the existing layout of their home, a Victorian Villa, nestled within a generous site laid out in terraces of hard & soft landscaped gardens and provide a larger family space, without increasing the existing footprint of the house.
After several proposals, extending into the garage space was deemed the most appropriate solution. The existing cellular accommodation was removed to reveal a large single open space. Light flooded into its volume from large full height windows that overlooked the ample gardens, at the rear of the house. There was very little light, however, from the glazing of the garage door at front of the house.
Our Client did not want to alter the front façade in any way & this influenced the layout going forward. The garage door was removed & in its place, 3No. windows of similar proportions set within a brickwork infill.
A spacious Kitchen/Dining Family Space was created with feature island counter & glazed wine rack. This space was illuminated from a large period rooflight above, complimenting the existing full height glazed windows. A large Utility Room was located off the Kitchen behind glazed sliding pocket doors.
